When I just started as an entrepreneur, managing my time was easy. I didn't. I just put every bit of energy into my company. Of course I also had my education to focus on, but obviously it suffered. Sports suffered too, as I stopped playing any sport for about one or two years. Almost every bit of time went into my company. And then it failed. I felt miserable. Something had to change.

"Wealth can only be perceived with the mind's eye" is a quote I read in a book recently. This is very true, it takes visualization to perceive a situation as an opportunity. This doesn't only apply to wealth, it actually applies to all opportunities. In order to create something, it first has to be perceived with the mind's eye (i.e. visualized). So how does one perceive with the mind's eye then?

When you learn any skill, there are a number of stages that you go throw in order to learn that particular skill. This is the same for any skill that you can think of. Being aware of this process will greatly increase your ability to learn a new skill and also allows you to assess your progress when learning skills.

Most of the time I dread them, meetings. They tend to get all lengthy. Back in university the annual members meeting would sometimes last as much as 5 or 6 hours... And meetings usually seem to avoid fun topics like you would the plague. But I also know they are a fact of running a business, so today I present to you my top 5 meeting tips. These tips can be used to steer a meeting in the direction you want to, and have it done with in an orderly time frame.

The Four Hour Work Week (4HWW for short) has been a New York Times and Wallstreet Journal bestseller, and isn't doing too shabby worldwide either. This book was recommended to me by a friend when we were working together for a big project of mine. I remember thinking 'well, sounds lame' and actually almost forgetting all about it. But I decided to pick up a copy anyway because he so highly recommended it. Well that turned out to be a total winner of a choice!

This month I introduce a new category, Reviews. This category will feature a review of the books I have read, seminars I attended and courses I have followed over the past years and in the future. I don't read any novels, only self improvement books, wealth books, investing books and other books that I feel will give me more of an edge in becoming successful. The same holds for seminars and courses. Forget the technical stuff, I am interested in marketing, accounting, wealth building and entrepreneurial seminars and courses only. But without further ado; the review! The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People is the book I would recommend almost anyone to read. Simply put, this is the book of books. Forget the Secret, The Four Hour Work Week and Rich Dad, Poor Dad. Read this first!

In one of my previous posts I talked about what being smart reall is all about. I discussed how being rational is important and I explained what rational thinking is. So be sure to read that post first, then watch the video below. This amazing insight is exactly what being rational is all about: the ability to distinguish fact from fiction!

Sometimes I wish I could pause a situation. Then I would take a step back and rewind the tape, and play it again, watching myself in this scene. Why? Because it would give me more insight into other peoples reactions to my actions and the other way around. Well hold on to your seats because there is a technique that allows you to do exactly this, and more! What's more, this technique has been around for ages, dating as far back as the Roman Empire! You just haven't been in the loop of the select few people who know and practice these secret techniques. I used to be very skeptical about these sort of things. How can you transcend yourself and look at a situation from the outside looking in, instead of the inside looking out; how can you see yourself in the third person!? I can honestly tell you that once you have experienced these techniques, you will be a complete believer. In a recent session I was at we also had someone who didn't believe it and thought it too spiritual, but only a couple of hours later he was completely in awe about what he had experienced. And this happens all the time with people who experience the power of this secret technique!

Having a high IQ doesn't necessarily mean you're smart. Nothing new here, I mean, we have all witnessed George W. Bush and his blunders. A funny fact: Bush himself says that his thinking can hardly be described as rational. But this man has a high IQ; around 120. So what is the deal with being smart? Think of being smart as a flash light. The intensity of the beam is your IQ. But of course where you point it matters as much as the intensity of the beam...

I was talking to a business partner of mine recently who is setting up a very innovative Internet concept. In a matter of minutes the main topic of our discussion had been discussed and we started talking about the future. What our dreams are and how we envision the future. It was a very interesting talk, even though it only lasted for a couple of minutes. After those couple of minutes we both went back to the usual business. He back to working his job so he can soon roll out his concept and I got back to working on my current project. This is key to achieving our goals, we have to be first, do second and have third. Both of us are, so right now we need to do. Which meant getting back to our day-to-day activities for now.
